Happy Tinder Tuesday! Reader Marsha sent us a story from Tinder that we couldn’t make up if we tried!
My online dating ventures started a year ago ago when the love of my life dumped me. It came out of nowhere and hit me like a freight train. After months of grieving and letting this “man” walk all over me, I decided to join Tinder.
It took a while before I talked to anyone who even sparked my interest but when it did it was glorious! He was so handsome in his photos and had great hair (yes, that matters to me)! He was a 27-year-old high school history teacher, owned his own townhouse and drove a nice car. He also didn’t jump right into sexual questions — and took time to get to know me, which was quite a change. After a few days, we started texting and then worked our way up to phone calls. Everything was going perfectly — he was literally perfect for me.
When Matt and I had still been talking two weeks later, we decided to meet at a local bar and grab a beer and some food. I could not wait — but my nerves were killing me. I asked a girl at work to come shopping with me for the most perfect first date outfit (I didn’t want to look too overdressed but I also wanted to look really good!). She said she’d join me…if I spilled the beans about my new Tinder man.
“He sounds too good to be true!” she said after I gave her all the dirty deets.
Although I hated to admit it, she very well could be right. I’d seen “Catfish: The TV Show” and heard a ton of online dating catfishing stories. Well, thanks to the very attractive Nev Schulman, we had an idea!
We looked onto Google and uploaded his photo in the search bar. Voila! And guess who popped up? Matt Crosby? Nope! Derek Theler…

Handsome, right? Well if you don’t know who Derek Theler is…he’s an actor. He has a starring role in an ABC Family sitcom called “Baby Daddy.” Laugh it up, you guys…
I was catfished!!! ME?! I thought I was too smart for that but it turns out, it can happen to anyone. If it seems too good to be true, it probably is — and learn to use Google!
